We are a family oriented group with passions for history and education. |
Annabel's Battery (formerly Maxwell's Battery) is a family oriented group of re-enactors based out of Canisteo, NY. We portray an artillery battery, field hospital, and an impression of civilian life during the American Civil War. Our organization re-enacts both sides of the conflict. As a union outfit, we represent Battery K of the 1st US Artillery. When Confederate, we take the field as the 1st Georgia Regular Artillery. We enjoy the opportunity to tell both sides of the story.
We are as passionate about education as we are about history. Annabel's Battery brings living history to thousands of patrons every year. In addition, we annually engage hundreds of school children at our signature Battle of Lain's Mill school-day event in Canisteo, NY.
Our members are formally trained in the operation of Civil War field artillery. Senior members of the battery all possess certification from the National Civil War Artillery Association. We pride ourselves on our safety record, efficient artillery drill, period correct appearance, and the quality of our programming.
In 2021, Annabel's Battery changed its name from the former Maxwell's Battery as a tribute to our founder and captain. Annabel's Battery operates as a 501-c3 non-profit. |
